I’m back- and here’s a new linocut print with curious ladies…and a festive view of all of the artists at Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (where I printed the new print)!
Singapore-based visual artist and art instructor Ivan Hoo uses colored pencils and pastels to create awesome illustrations on wood panels that are both photorealistic and anamorphic. Hoo’s meticulous drawings look so incredibly lifelike that, when the finished pieces are paired with the actual objects depicted in the drawings, it’s tricky to tell which is real and which is the drawing.
“By working on wood, it gives me a lot of dimension and ideas to create something close to reality and it works really well with pastels, too” Hoo explains. “I started to experiment on wood some years back with mainly portraits as my subject before going further with a different concept.”

Can we please talk about David’s expression here?!
I mean, MM looks pleasantly surprised, sure… But David has the face of the man who realizes that his daughter isn’t his baby girl anymore. He looks so dumbstruck here and I love it, because he knows that he missed a huge part of his daughter life, a lot of fathers things that he didn’t get a chance to have, but here, he kinda have a “Daddy’s little girl moment” where a Dad realize that his little girl’s heart has indeed been taken by another man.
Adam, Eddie, Josh, THANK YOU. I didn’t realized that I needed this until I saw it.
This is why Josh Dallas needs more appreciation.
This is also the realization that his daughter looks BEAUTIFUL…and that she’ll be looking beautiful on her date with Hook. Charming is wondering if there’s time to fit in a “Birds and Bees ” chat before her date.
